OLL ART is committed to expanding the creative boundaries of light as a medium. Through in-depth collaboration with architects and artists worldwide, light is liberated from function and transformed into communicative artistic energy and emotional presence. In our collaboration with Ma Yansong, founding partner of MAD Architects, light becomes the medium connecting architecture, installations and public experience, jointly exploring expressions of light within urban and cultural contexts. At the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, OLL ART and Ma Yansong co-created the installation "An Oil-Paper Umbrella." Using traditional Chinese oiled paper as the vessel and SDL Smart Spectrum technology as its core, they constructed a suspended pavilion of light. Technology was applied in reverse to create an expressive chromatic light system, reshaping and expressing Eastern aesthetics within an international context.

During Shanghai Design Week 2025, OLL ART once again collaborated with Ma Yansong to present "The Sun," an art installation of inflatable structures wrapped around dynamic light cores, creating an open stepped plaza. Here, light is not merely a visual phenomenon but becomes a touchable, experiential vessel of time and an emotional plaza, reshaping the boundaries between exhibition and public space.
During the Seoul Architecture Biennale 2025, the OLL ART team infused rhythms of light and mist into Ma Yansong's inflatable installation "Breathing Cells." The installation's skin can sense and adjust light and temperature, while the light-mist system interacts with the surrounding environment. This is not just an installation—it is an exploration of future architecture as a "living interface."
